5 small changes for lasting weight loss

Man eating saladAre you fed up with diets that do not work? Simply changing a few daily habits can have a positive effect on your weight and wellbeing.

Focus on small changes

It is not the occasional chocolate or burger that ruins your diet. It is what you eat on a daily basis that controls your weight. Rather than embarking on another new diet, simply add one positive health change to your day. For example, swap that afternoon biscuit for an apple, use a smaller plate for dinner or go for a walk after dinner.

Plan your moves

Our best intentions can come undone when life gets busy. Be prepared for those stressful times when you search through desk drawers, or attack vending machines, for a sugary snack. Plan ahead and ensure to always leave the house with a piece of fruit or veggie sticks and some nuts. Another good move is to put leftovers away before sitting down for your meal. Don’t let those leftovers tempt you.

When more is better

Eating plenty of nutrient-rich veggies daily means you have less room for less nutritious food. An adult should eat at least 3 cups of vegetables or salad daily. Enjoy cut up carrots, celery, capsicum or snow peas as a pre-dinner snack or ensure your dinner plate is half-filled with salad.

To snack or not to snack

Do you binge in the afternoon? The secret to healthy snacking is to ensure your choices are small and take time to eat. Snack on something that requires a lot of chewing, such as an apple, followed by one other tasty snack. Other snack ideas include crackers with peanut butter, a small serving of cheese or a nut bar.

Why are you eating?

Quite often the issue is not what you are eating but rather why you are eating. Ask yourself if it is really hunger you are feeling or are you simply tired, procrastinating or bored. Will eating that chocolate bar really help you getting that job done? Have a glass of water instead of a snack, and feel better for it.

I would just like to share my experiences with Missing Link. I found the service impeccable. Not only was Anita warm and friendly but her professional knowledge is amazing. Through a few relevant questions and the biofeedback machine, useful details about my health were discovered that otherwise may have gone untreated or unnoticed for years and years. Anita is thorough and the results were fast, accurate and explained in a way that was meaningful and personal. - Michael
I loved your approach: warm and professional, friendly and calm. I came away with lots of hope and feel better just for that. I really liked the simplicity of your approach and appreciated that you didn't overload me with supplements or things to do. Seemed a lovely balance of dealing with the most important in a simple, practical way. And I liked that you were very attuned to what would actually work for me. — Chantal
Great to catch up again yesterday, E. and I are really enjoying our new "Wellness Journey" together, so thank you so much for all of your help and guidance so far. Pleased to say Coffee has not passed my lips since our first meeting, and also my weight has reduced considerably, which is all good news. — I.K. from Canberra
"I was getting bad headaches about every month for decades The headaches were severe enough to require a lot of Panadol, which I didn’t like taking. After Anita carried out a thorough assessment of my health, she advised a simple change in eating patterns and a herbal supplement. I have not had a headache for five months now and my overall health and energy levels have never been better." — John
Anita’s input was extremely useful. Her state-of the-art machine detected some intolerance to certain food groups from a mere hair sample. Anita’s findings quickly resolved my on-an-off bloating sensation and lethargic state. Not bad for a Canberra-based Swissie.  — Cécile in Sydney
